Chasers in My Garden.

A few weeks ago I netted out old leaves that had settled on the bottom of my garden pond. I also managed to bring up several Broad-bodied Chaser larvae too which were promptly put back into the water.I was therefore hopeful that some would emerge from the pond this spring.Well ,today I had two teneral female Broad-bodied Chasers fluttering around in the garden.Although I could not discover the exuviae it is probable that they emerged from my pond.

A Slow Start.

The season seems to be progressing slowly and all that can be seen are Large Red Damselflies at the moment.Following the presence of several 'Reds' at my garden pond last week there have been no further sightings and I had to visit a friends' pond today in order to see two males. His garden pond is south facing and positioned in a sunny and sheltered spot.

First Sighting of this Year.

The first Large Red Damselfly has appeared at my garden pond today. In fact two were present and they took off to the bushes as soon as they could. Still,I managed to get a record of this female and I am sure that it will not be long before she is joined by others now that the weather has turned very spring-like.
